I have never understood items like this.

It's a very good, high quality finish piece, for sure.

But...you'd think that people who are interested in finishing up their cars like this would normally have some kind of electronic equipment in that space!

Somebody explain it to me. LOL...

Me too I thought that was sort of a security device though. SO if if that is installed it blocks out the radio completely?

No, its placed in there when theres no stereo- to block up an ugly hole in simple terms.

It offers the clean look of a finished interior, with the weight reduction benefits of not having silly electronics like stereos.

Not sure I'd suggest that because the ipod's pre outs are low voltage compared to a decent deck. Just a suggestion

Is this the same exact part (except for the fake carbon) that comes on the base model element (optional stereo). If it is, then I'm just going to go to a dealership and get one.

Yes i know this, but it works pretty well, my friend is running his ..

ipod to his arc4150 to his speakers, it sounds good enough
