exactly how do you know if you bent your valves?
Lumpy idle. Car still drives decent at low rpm but bogs down horrible when you give it gas. These were my symptoms when my timing belt slipped a few teeth. Heck I didn't think it was valves at first and spent two days trying to fix a bad gas problem (or so I thought)
when i had two intake valves bent on #1 i was backfiring out the intake and running on three cylinders, it sounded like ***
its not a hard thing to miss

do the dollar bill trick. place a dollar bill right in front of your exhaust with the engine running at idle. the dollar bill should be pulsing out away from the exhaust. if it get suck in towards the inside of the exhaust then you know theres a problem
dammit i think my valves are bent

I once had four exhaust valves bent so slightly that they didn't show up on a compression test. Adjust your valves and run the engine, then check the clearances again. If they're out of whack then you know you have a problem.
