Default 79 CIVIC DRAG CAR

hi, i have a 79 civic in descent condition. i just won an insurance settlement for $20000 and want to put this thing in the 10's or maybe even 9's. i was talking to a shop and they said to put in an H27 prelude engine in or something. i cant do mechanical work because my girlfriend hates it when i get dirt underneith my fingernails, does anyone on here do this kind of stuff that can help me. i'll pay good money for help. the car is pretty rusted out so i'll need some help with that too. a friend of mine referred me to honda-tech cause you guys are such pros at working on hondas. he drives a 86 honda accord with clear tails and stuff. his car is really nice. i really like clear taillights, do any of you know who makes some for my 79 civic? let me know who can help me.

That's an autocross/road race car man! Not a drag car!!!!!!!

rumor has it a local is putting a small block, or possibly a big block, in his civic 1200 with his son as a lil father-son project...... it'll be NASTY i'm sure... but overall it's just for kicks....

the wheelbase is too short to be a drag car, realistically... safely... etc...

I'm not sure how serious this project is but either way, it's not worth it. Given the fact that a Civic 1200's engine bay is tiny and I think people have a hard time getting a D16 to fit, you're fighting an uphill battle all the way. Plus, once it's in, there's no room for anything else... and it's all custom work (even wheels).

I'd recommend an 88+ Civic which is still in the 800kg range vs ~725 or so for a 79 Civic 1200. For the weight penalty you get a much better platform with more than enough aftermarket support / knowledge to get you there.

First of all WTF is an H27?????? did you mean H22? or H23?

second thing wiring is the least of your worries at this point getting the motor in there and making it sit correctly, axles, shift cables.

then you have the wiring you will probably be better off running a stand alone or something along the lines of hondata and redoing every single other wire in the car. You will not be legal for any class except for pro outlaw since the car is so old. I think you might be in a little over your head here. just some thoughts. Also nice to have anohter local on here -ronnie
