i use a 02 rsx tyoe s oil filter and its alot smaller than other filters ive seen. it works fine and some people say it gives you a higher oil pressure. if im correct honda now only sells 1 type of filter that fits the b/h/k series motors

i doubt it.

what kind of improvements in performance are you hoping to get from a different oil filter? assuming it is a different filter (i'm not sure it is), is it worth a new engine to get slightly better oil flow? probably not...

You can use the newer, smaller OEM filters, no big difference. If you want to stick with the older, bigger style, get the OEM filter for the S2000. Both have higher pressure, and supposedly it does not effect performance or reliability at all.

Higher pressure? why not just stick with the proper size and what the recommendation requires? I mean will it last longer or give you more hp with the smaller sized filters?

I have used a smaller oil filter from Honda. I heard it's supposed to maintain a oil pressure in VTEC, without dropping oil pressure. I can't tell.

The "new" oil filters are made by three different companies... Filtec, who makes the old "larger" ones, Honeywell, and Fram as see on the one pictured above... So if you do decide to use the "new" style, make sure the parts guy gives you one made by Filtec or ask specifically when you go in...

the new filter is not used for all b/h/k series. i hear people have problems with using k-series filters on b-series because the rubber seals arent the correct size. the new filters also use an element made by fram, which is lesser quality. i use the s2000 filter because they use oem jdm honda which was the best tested filter element and still has correct fitment.

I went to Honda dealer and they gave me a smaller filter. I have to ask twice because I was used to getting the bigger ones. They said they discontinued the bigger ones and it should not affect car performance.

smaller ones boost pressure...although I don't know if it's in bypass mode more now....just have to trust Honda in its decision.
