Default LS Vtec Turbo buildup, Like some info on others setups, times, #'s. Reliability??

Very interested in this instead of spending all that extra cash on a gsr block to get the same results. iv seen big numbers and would just like to see and hear first hand from people who have fully built ls/vtecs and how they feel about its reliability vs. a Gsr Block. And if they have any MUST DO tips to keep it safe.
Thanks alot

Brad

Dont be misinformed about being able to rev it like a gsr just cause it has a vtec head.
As long as its built right and tuned right it can be very reliable. If its mistreated and not tuned properly it wont last long (as with any motor).

Why not rev it like a gsr? Rod bolts? Girdle? Surely not the slight increase in stroke.

I am sure there is a reason why LS's only rev to 6900 and GSR's rev to 8000.

Because the whole LSvtec concept is to put a better flowing head on a motor that will normally create more torque at a lower redline.
Although i rev my LSvtec to 9500. Then again, its being parted and Im going straight gsr now.

Yeah it is because of the LS head and maybe rod bolts.

Better flowing head, better cams, better valve train. Which equals power at higher RPM than the LS had with out the vtec head. I don't see what is wrong with reving a LSV like a GSR if you change out the weak parts. (Rod bolts) Am I missing something? Please let me know if there is a reason I don't know about.

My LS/VTEC has had no problems so far. REAL low budget build: Stock LS block and stock B16A2 head with an InlinePro headgasket in between. 356 whp/ 257 tq, 11.61 @ 120 in a 99 Si.

I had no problem revving mine to 9k with the supercharger. Then again this was with the gsr girdle, arp bolts, and some solid stock sleeves

Now with the turbo im revving to 8400 and no problems.
