Will a 4 door GSR tranny (S-80) work, if I drop it in a 92 Civic VX, instead of a 2 door GSR tranny (Y-80). Please help.

 

This tranny will work only if you have a Bseries motor. so...yes a S-80 trans will work with a GSR swap.....Whereas, a Y-80 trans will also work with a GSR swap. The will not bolt up to the VX motor though

Yes....you will need the rear tranny T bracket from the GSr or any 94 up Bseries. GSR/Delsol Bseries AC bracket. GSR passenger front trans bracket and driver GSR mount. Also you need the GSR shift linkage.

Hmm I am pretty sure the 2door and 4door transmissions are identical. FYI, I have a S80 in my GSR coupe.

My next question is...how come my 94 2dr GSR has Y-80 tranny? What's the difference? Just Part number?

 

GSR 2door = GSR 4door

 

Y80 = 94-mid95 GSR tranny
S80 = mid95+ GSR tranny

some mechanical changes were made to S80 transmissions (they're a bit better)

Sounds about right. My 95 gsr has an S80 and it was manufactured 11/94.
