mishifted and hit 9500+ today...
i have a 00 GSR with 12000miles on it. im taking it to the dealer to have a scheduled oil change(its free). should i ask them to do a valve adjustment? if so, would this be free? anything else i should be worried about?
any noises in the engine i should listen for?
needless to say, im pretty friggin worried.

I don't think the dealer will do the valve adjustment for you at only 12000 miles unless you pay for it. People who accidentally overrev by misshifting can get their valves bent by piston contact. Poor idle and stalling will occur shortly after. If your car idles fine and drives normal with no loss of power then you shouldn't worry about it. But if you're still unsure then you can do a compression and leak down test.
What you should do is connect a vacuum gauge to one of the vacuum lines. If the Vacuum is not steady (the need fluctuates a lot) then chances are, you have some bent valves.
will the rough idle and stalling occur immediately after the misshifting happens? or will it happen over a short period of time?
just wondering b/c i drove home with no idles problems. only thing was i heard a slight rattle when i revved the engine

money!!, hey does anyone know if there is a possibility of fitting a limiter to stop this as i havent done it yet but you never know
Uh oh. I hear a continuous "tick tick tick" sound whenever I turn off my car. It ticks for about 2 mins and slowly stops. What does this mean?
Thanks.
Thanks.
If you did damage a valve, you'll be idling funny, should be pretty noticeable though. I've overreved my B17A to 9500+ rpms more than once, never damaged a thing (and this motor had waaaaay over 100k miles when it's happend). Chances are you're fine. Do the vaccum test and if possible a compression test, if they check out fine, you're ok.
ok, so that's normal?
And there's one more thing which maybe I didn't notice about other tegs... When I turn on the car, it revs for about 1.5 minutes and then it becomes steady at idle. Some guy once told me that it was just the car warming up, but as far as I know my friend's teg doesn't do it. And if I shift gears (auto.) to drive before the revving stops, the shift is very "bumpy". Is this normal too?
Thanks.

the rpms should be about 1500~ when you turn the engine on. its normal, just as long as the revs drop to about 700-900 at idle once its warmed up.
my car idled fine this morning, i also listened for noises that sounded abnormal and didnt hear anything
just took a brain stunning political science test

Trust me you would know if you bent valves. Your car runs like ****, if you can hardly a tell a difference more than likely you're fine.
I went from 4th to 2nd once on the highway, not a good thing..

lol yeah I have done the 5th to 2nd in my gsr and nothing happened except when I felt the car kind of jerk with compression and i instantly pounded my foot thru the floor on the clutch pedal
ok, so that's normal?

it is the same principal as a choke on the older carburated engines.
