HELP!!! I DROP THE LOCKNUT DOWN THE PORTS!

well i was backing out the locknuts to relieve the pressure off my rocker arms and i guess i backed it out too far. wen i took the socket off the locknut fell out and went into one of those ports on the side. im assuming it goes straight into the block but im not positive where. does it drop the coolant things on the side?? im soo pissed off1!!! wat should i do??
well there are a few tools one is a telescopic arm that has a magnetic tip u can stickdown the prt the other is a flexible snake like tool forgot the name but it has a grapler on the other end for u to grab stuff u dropped in small unreachable spots

well... i dunno you, and u dunno me, but i bet i can beat if not come close to what u've been through.... lets just say, engine rebuild.. yea i was sent 3 diff **** h22 blocks... and that's just to start.
Don't worry I have experience with the same problem. Only mine came off at the track, at the top of third
. Just drop the oil pan, pull out the nut and you'll be fine! I reused the nut. Yes, it can and did fall all the way down to the oil pan.

man...that sucks
when i was going to adjust the valves on my buddys h22.....he pulled the valve cover and a washer fell down in there....and we could not find a small enough magnet....however i was able to grab it out of that "port" with some long needle nose pliers....i wish you the best of luck

thanks alot guys, im going to work now.. illl stop at autozone on the way home and try it out. what are the chances of it being in my oil pan?? hopefully it jus fell and sat on top of the block...

Ports are either for oil or coolant (most likely oil since we're all the way on top of the head). Since we don't intentionally mix oil or coolant with the fuel/air in the combustion chamber, there should be no way that the nut would end up on top of the piston if it fell in the ports...
if it fell in the ports, wouldn't it drop down in the cylinder
