With the article, don't look at the HP gains as the tests were conducted on a Supra, probably a TT Supra at that. I think what you have is fine. Just keep up a routine maintenance schedule for cleaning it.

Anyone know how well a SPOON filter will keep out dirt and other unwanted particles?

the spoon filter is made of the same filtration element as the greddy airinx, and the hks super mega flow...its a foam type, not the paper stlye, the bonus of the paper k&n style is their re-usability...get a k&n cleaning kit, comes with a cleaner and oil...the spoon one is cool cause it utalizes the stock airbox on the dc's...

HKS SPF is good, but the only thing I don't like about it is that its no longer washable and it get dirty real fast.

How much is the Spoon? Looks pretty similar to the Comptech filter, seeing as it's foam as well.

Not a atupid question at all. K&N makes a Filter Charger or recharger kit, I don't recall the exact name. But it's about $10 and it comes with a cleaner that you spray on and then hose off. Then you let the filter dry for a bit. So you'll want to do this when you don't plan to drive for a while. I do it before I sleep and let it dry all night. Then when it's dry you use another srayp they provide and spray it on the filter to "recharge" the filter. Meaning that it is capable once again to trap dirt effectively while still flowing lots of air. The instructions are simple and it's good to do with K&N style filters. Good luck! Or as my chinese ancestors say: "Rots a Ruck!"

Yes, I've heard about them. A&J sold them, not sure if they still do though. The Monster filter is cheaper than a SPOON one. NOt sure about the differences between the two though.

Sorry

Difference between Spoon and Monster is that one is yellow and the other is red, and the other difference is price of couse!

But the Spoon can be cleaned using the foam cleaner from Comptech.

Spoon and Monster is basically the same thing...Monster just makes them for spoon. The nice thing about spoon is that it plugs right into the stock airbox. But if you really want foam, just get comptech, works just as well and its only like 60 dollars.

sorry to relive this thread...

but the apexi filter, I looked at the site (http://www.apexi-usa.com/intake_powerintake.asp) and it says 'maintenance free' what does that mean? there is no such thing as a filter that doesn't need to be replaced or cleaned regularly? if it needs to be cleaned what are the methods? if it needs to be replaced, I don't think i will even think a second about it, but if it is a lifetime filter that filters better than KN, and gets better flow, I might just be willing to drop the $200 on it.

can any one shed some more light for me?

TIA
