I just picked up a del sol, and the key that i got with it does not open up the trunk.Is there a latch somewhere that pops open the trunk? it only came with one key, i need to get into the trunk. I searched for a latch but i cant find one...HELP!!!

someone please help i need to ship out a bunch of parts but i cant get into my trunk!!!

 

go to honda with the title or as long as the car is in you name with your insurance to show the car is yours. write down the vin number take it to the parts department and they will make you a key. the key you is the valet key that is why it won't open the trunk.

 

yeah del sol trunk keys are differnet than ignition and doorlock key.

yea, there is not latch. my moms 94 del sol ign. key works with the trunk..hmmm...

 

thats fucked up that they didnt put a latch in them ..grrr

Bullshit, I have a 93 sol si and i have 1 key. same on my cousins 93 si.

 

can you give the dealer the VIN and they will make you a key?

Its not entirely bullshit. you have the normal key, and the kid prolly has the valet key that only starts the car. normal key doesnt really have any teeth on it, the valet key does to make it not work in the trunk or the locking compartments.

and FYI turnk releases were put in the 95 and up del sols.

you will need proof the car is yours but yes. I had a valet key made that way.

93 no trunk release like everyone is saying. There are normally 2 keys the Honda dealers gave for the Del Sol. One standard and one Valet, the Valet key only opens the doors and turns ignition but will not open the trunk. Also, your Del Sol might have a completely different lock in the trunk due to possible theft and the previous owner might've replaced it with an aftermarket oem replacement lock. "Good Luck"...

 

I went to the dealership and what i had was a valet key, it wouldnt even unlock my door.So i got a master key cut for $4.00 and now i have full access, thanks for the help guys!

 

you dont need 2 keys for a del sol. 1 key does both, and 95 models on they had a trunk latch.
