Default the rest of my p.s. story...

well i did the test today and found no leaks or anything. before i started the car the fluid was chillin at the lower line, after a few turns it had climbed to less than an inch from the top of the resevoir, is that normal w/ or w/o p.s.? i also forgot to include in my original post that the entire resevoir, top (gray part), and cap have fluid on them. is it possible the fluid is just coming out of the cap? this is making me think that i dont have a leak, that it is just coming out of the top. can i fix this? and do so by keeping my car w/o ps? thanks

if you aren't running p/s, why don't you just get rid of it all together?
i think you are supposed to loop the lines in the p/s rack somehow

yeah I would guess that the fluid could be leaking any number of places. Reason being because you still have the pump connected to the system. But... you have the belt off so the pump is not operating...
You need to bypass the pump. As you are turning you are building up pressure in lines that do not normally have much pressure in them. Follow the lines and connect the hoses that go into the pump with those that are coming out of the pump. know what I mean?

thats it? before i saw a post about someone taking the whole system out and then they put new lines and a resevoir right above their steering rack, but that seem too confusing. after i connect the lines and drop the pump should i still run p.s. fluid in the system, or should i use something else?

yeah I would leave the fluid in there. Your best bet would be to take the lines coming right out of the rack and just connect those together. This will make it a little easier but it won't be as easy as a manual rack.
