Transmission problems. HELP!
My car is at the shop right now. I have a JDM h22a in a 99 civic si. I can barely shift into 1st, 3rd and 5th. 2nd and 4th are fine. The mechanic at the shop believes it's internal to the trans. but isn't sure. He can't find any probs. with the shift cables or mechanism.
Any ideas?

Yea i bet that it is the Syncros. That is a known problem with the H22 tranny. The best thing that we can say apart from replacing/rebuilding the tranny, it is a long shot but fill the tranny with GM syncromesh and drive the car if possible to work it into the gears and such. You will need to put arround 500 miles on the syncromesh to determine if it worked or not.
I have a JDM M2B4 tranny and the 5th gear grind went from just bairly noticable to not being able to use 5th and R. I used the Syncromesh and 1 week later all better!!!
It is worth the $20 to try it. Instead of a new/rebuilt tranny.
Good luck

when you say "barely shift into 1st 3rd 5th, is it mushy going into the
gear or does it grind into the gear. if it's mushy then there might be
something in the way of the shift cables/linkages. when i replaced my clutch,
it was mushy like that and that's what turned out to be the problem
