sohc cam gear

Default sohc cam gear

im buying a cam gear for my d16z6 and i wanted to know if anything else has to be upgraded to make a difference with the cam gear. i have i/h/e and soon a im maybe plus the cam gear. is anything else needed. thanks.

you really wont see too much of a difference with a cam gear.....maybe 2whp at the very most. if you were pushin serious hp from an sohc then it would be benificial. but if used right it doesnt hurt

which cam gear are you getting?

im pickin up a red aem cam gear for 50 bucks, figured it couldnt hurt.

Hella_JDM, they all have 3 bolts, old and new...to the original postee, I think Hella is sayin make sure it is indexed properly. Back in the day, AEM indexed some gears wrong..., also, make sure the marks for tdc's match up to stock (keyway should be inline with 12 oclock mark, etc...)

I got a NEW red skunk2 cam gear for $75 if you change your mind about the aem one...plus im right over in ulster county/ kingston...itll fit any d-series...

i'm kinda n00b to cam gears, what are they good for, will the change the opening times of the intake and exhaust valves? can i mount them on a stock d15 sohc vtec engine?

adjustable cam gears allow you to easily adjust the timing ... could possibly gain some ht by a retard. Good for boosting'

on sohc, adv. cam bring power band down, ret. cam brings power band up...depends on tune and cam profile if you will make power at any certain setting.
