Mounting SOHC cam gear
I'm a little confused on how to mount the adjustable cam gear.
My original one has a ping in it, but all the aftermarket, including the one I bought, has a grove. How does it lock on to the camshaft?
P.S.
Before everyone starts sending me to the “search” section, I already tried it and had no luck.

Re: Mounting SOHC cam gear (d16rice)
Never did a dseries but i'm assuming its all the same, if i'm wrong somebody can have my mother. Anyways there should be a litte wedge shaped pin that goes on the cam, then you slide the cam gear over.

that's exactly how it is. When you remove the stock cam gear there will be a little wedge piece that goes in the grooved slot which normally will sit TDC.
Good luck but if you are unclear pick up your Hayes/Chilton book for a quick walk through..

Re: Mounting SOHC cam gear (L.D.S. Construction)
i had a cam gear that didnt come with one so i ended up making one out of hardened steel, took a long time to make it fit perfect but it was worth not paying the 50 cents for one

Just go to honda and ask for it, they gave me like 3 free ones.

Re: Mounting SOHC cam gear (L.D.S. Construction)
Thanks for the help. I'll check the local shops first, and if I can't get one locally, then call around.
I was afraid I might have bought the wrong one, but thank you for clearing it up.
