Default Bolts on the Tranny side of the block.

Ok, I bought a nice engine stand to put my new engine on so I can finish it.

The bolts that hold the tranny and stuff on are 1/2" 20thread count. (fine thread)

The bolts that came from the engine are not long enough to pass through the engine stand peices and into the block to screw in to secure it.

So, I went to LOWE'S (God I love this store)...
anyway, I went and bought some longer bolts with the same thread count.

But they dont work. They will not start threading. I know the bolts are the same, I just cant get it to start....
what the hell am I missing?

Well the ones that came out of the car are Metric. And it sounds like the ones that you bought are Standard?

There is prolly a difference in the pitch angles of the threads. Have you held the 2 bolt together (interlocking like) to see if the threads ALL line up?

Good luck.

yea...
it appears that they are metric, (although a 1/2" 20 nut will roll onto the bolts that came from the engine).

The threads looked liked they lined up. But I guess there is just enough of a different to make my life difficult.

ok,
the bolt size is m12 x 1.25 any one know where I can get long bolts with this thread pattern?

Lowes only has m12 x 1.75

Yet another bump in the road to recovery..
/sigh
