Default Eight Fuel Injectors w/EMS

I got a strange one for you guys.

I'm going to be building a turbo setup soon and I got alot of parts left over from my previous NA setup. One of that being my EMS and Wideband and also a set of RC 370cc P&H Injectors. (I got ITBs too, but I don't think I want to weld it shut anytime soon. )

The EMS has provisions to run eight injectors provided that you have the proper mounting hardware. As far as I know, JG Edelbrock is the only company that makes an intake manifold for eight injectors. I want around 500-600 whp and I honestly don't want to spend an additional $185 for each injector 600cc and up. (Pauter rods and CP Pistons and Benson Sleeves are adding up already.) The only downside I see to this setup is complexity. It has more room to break. Other than that it sounds like a good setup. You'll have smaller injectors at lower rpms or idle and larger injectors spraying with them at high rpm or boosting. Not to mention a little better fuel economy.

Now here is my question, which setup would you guys recommend? Art? Earl? Stan? Steve? Fred? anybody?

Setup A: JG Edelbrock intake manifold with stock fuel rail, ITR fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator. The primary injector is basically a stock system. The other would be my leftover RC 370cc injectors mounted with custom braided lines and AEM Universal Fuel Pressure regulator that i already have.

Setup B: JG Edelbrock intake manifold with stock fuel rail, 4 370cc injectors, stock pressure regulator. Then an additional RC 500cc injectors mounted with custom braided lines and AEM Universal Fuel Pressure regulator that I already have.

Setup C: Shell out more $$ for the 800cc injectors.

I hope a 255lph Walbro Intank Unit is enough. You know what, I almost forgot. You would have to run two separate fuel lines wouldn't you? Damit! Well unless both of the rails operate at the same pressure. Guys? Help please.

Thanks,

Len

Personally I'd go with the extra dough and larger injectors. Properly tuned you can run great HP numbers with 4 large injectors.

I'm going with 550cc RC P&H injectors for my turbo setup.

This is Matt Todhunter btw Len...how ya been?

I'm coming by tomorrow to get that tensioner I didn't order last week.

Len, sometimes you forget about Keep It simple and you are just left with being stupid.

Unless you want to experiment with your own car I would opt for the 4 injector set up (setup C)

Did AEM fix their weak injector drivers yet?

It sounds too complicated to me. You will probably spend more money at the dyno trying to tune it than you would if you had just bought some bigger injectors....

Personally, I've always been a fan of the 8 injector setup, but that was based strictly on what I've read. And unfortunately, most other people's opinions on the setup are based on what they've read as well. Hard finding someone with real world experience to actually talk about it.

Everyone always gives the "too complicated" answer, but I don't see what's so complicated about it - I see the added cost being an issue, but not the complexity. Assuming you have an additional injector driver and something to control timing (BTM) .

Additional Injector Controllers[*]SDS EM-4[*]EFI Secondary Injector Drivers[*]RSR AIC400[*]ERL MF2[*]Split Second AIC1[*]Greddy Rebic IV[*]HKS AIC-Si[*]034 EFI Sup. Injector ECU

Guess that's why I shelled out $$$ to take the EFI class...

you CAN do 8 injectors w/ the ems. Have I ever implemented 8? Nope, but i bet i could easy.

However, its not hard getting 880 cc injectors or even 1000 cc injectors to idle close to stock.

Ask Vic how close his car idles to perfection

hrmm not sure, but you can place an application in and I'll review it to see if your setup is worthy of my time, but then again you've already questioned my capability by telling me you were going somewhere else, ********

Tell you what Steve. I'll make a deal with you.

Conditions: Tune the bog out of my NA setup without using a dynojet. Deal?

Bad enough to lose a sec or two between shifts.

But it's not done. Do it for free and show me what you're capable of and I'll pay you to tune my car when it goes boosted.

Stagged injection works really well if you want really good partial drivability. Although you are using the EMS, you can have 8 injectors with Hondata. The secondary set of injectors are activated at vtec crossover.
