every since day 1 I own my car.. if i have half a tank of gas or less. after I stop my car like 10 mins or so. the car would make a lound errhhmmm like farting noise that is about 3-4 seconds long. and goes on for about an hour or 2 every 5-10 mins..

I have taken the car to honda to check many times. no answer.. change the gas cap.. doesn't work. I only give it 2-3 clicks after it tigtens.

one older honda mechanic told me is the gas from the gas tank that was to get out. and if the noise comes on. take off the gas cap for 10 mins and put it back on and this would go away and it does but is there something else that I can do so I don't have to take off the gas cap manually to stop the noise. this only happens and happens more if I have less gas.. it never happens if I am almost full or half 3/4 full. I have also changed a new fuel pump and it doesn't work too.

any suggestions???

 

what year is your car, and has ther been any extensive wiring changes done to it?

 

Your gas tank has a long hose that just lets air get displaced. I'm guessing that your problem lies there.

 

MY CAR IS A 2000 CIVIC HATCH..

WHERE IS THIS LONG HOSE LOCATED.. CAN IT BE CHANGED??
