Got my bonus today, what should I buy?
Got a $3000 bonus today from work. What should I get for my R. It's completely stock and going fast is not a factor for me. I want to do more track time, so I'm thinking of getting a Race seat (Mugen?), harness, test pipe, pads. Running stock wheels with SO-3's. Any suggestions from you road racers? or might just keep the car stock and use the money toward driving schools.

Mike,
i was thinking about that since you have a killer deal on the calibers. Is the install difficult? what kind of fluid would I run?

Yeah, this is pretty much going to be a one time thing.
Easy to install, Not much involved as long as you know what your doing.
You can use stock fluid But I would say use a performance fluid Like Motul or equivalent.

If you're gonna do track time, get a rollbar, it's better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.....maybe some nice brake pads, a bra can help prevent chips at the track and on the street...seat & harness if you decide to get a bar, otherwise use the stock belt (don't want to use your head as a rollbar)....and then, i'd save some up for the inevitable, even if that's only new tires now and again...never hurts to have some ready-to-blow cash on hand.

JL Audio 250/1 (kick *** class D amp)
window tint
DOHC/VTEC/LSD hatch sticker.

Yellow blur,
thanks, but I wouldn't say "lucky", just fortunate. But don't think that I didn't get my *** kicked to get the bonus. WORK hard, PLAY hard.

i would agree with chris..go to a kick *** driving school..second choice would be some good wheels and tires..volk, mugen, spoon, the rota's seem like a good buy as well..
whatever you do..have fun!

Good SA2000 Helmet $300-$400
Gloves $35
Shoes $80-100
Extra set of wheels with good street tires to learn on...don't go to race right away
$800 ($200/wheel tire combo...set of stock wheels, Kuhmo 712 cheap ($60 each) but easy to drive, falken azenis seem to be popular now)
Extra set of brake pads (Porterfield R4, R4S, Hawk Blues) $125-150 for the Front...stock rears should be fine...I run R4S in back though
ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid ($20)
Helms Manual ($75)
Maybe some good tools if you don't already have them...full set of metric wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc. ($200)
A couple cases of mobile 1 Synth. oil ($100)
That's creeping up on $2000 already...it goes even faster when you buy all this stuff!!!
Driving schools, drivers ed, autoX. should accout for the rest of the money. That's 4-5 drivers ed for that money + some autoXing
Honestly, I would leave the suspension alone. If you are just learning, you'll be going plenty fast with the suspension...that's the beauty of this car stock.
Harness...don't use one unless you are using a rollbar...you'll just have more chance of hurting yourself.
The seat would be next on my list if you want to dip into some more cash. Better feel, lighter weight, better support without a harness.
The $ start adding up waaaaay faster than you realize. I would consider keeping some bucks for the unplanned expenses in a race fund. Maybe even put that money in its own savings account. Things break, its that simple.
Have fun! The more you drive this car on a track or autoX, the more you will come to appreciate it...makes other more expensive cars look plain foolish!
Doh! Forgot to say...if you are doing a lot of track time get a roll bar...put that on my list after the helmet. if you will focus on autoX, then proceed to other stuff.
