Default SOHC supercharger

I was talking to guy who has a SOHC civic 1.6l w/ a JRSC running 10lbs.... It kinda seems that supercharging a SOHC 1.6l is a waste of $$$.... has anyone got decent power by supercharging an engine like this... seems like it would have been more effective to turbo a SOHC...

Anyways, I'm just curious...

a couple people have done ok with them. most people end up going turbo if they're not into like auto-x or something. gitwidit's old setup was a JRSC if i remember right. pm him and see what he says about it... btw he is now going turbo

okay maybe im a fucktard, but...wouldnt a supercharger be MORE effective than a turbo for a smaller engine? because if its a centrifugal supercharger, then it always spools at the same RPM, engine to engine right? because its just a sequence of gears that overdrive the compressor wheel to 7 or 8 times the engine speed right? so it should always spool by the same RPM, where as with a turbo, you're confined to choosing a smaller compressor that isn't going to be that fast at the top end because the amount of exhaust gases wont be sufficient to spool the turbo AND you probably wont be able to run high PSI because the turbo just isnt going to be able to generate it.

With a nice shot of nitrous and a JRSC@10psi

251whp/227tq

Went turbo after 4 years because I wanted to go faster and the JRSC potential was gone without an aftercooler. Click in my sig for specs on old setup

Setup was fun as hell to drive and extremely reliable
