6th gen heating system won't turn off--
Ok, it's the teens here in Northeast, but I don't want to turn on the heating system all the time.
At first I just thought that the engine is what's heating up the interior.
The climate controls are set to off, but the car is definitely heating on its own.
I don't remember the 6th gen having heated seats, but they seem to also generate it(I know I shouldn't complain, but just imagine next summer).
Tips, anyone?

My gf's brother's 6th gen had a broken heater control valve a few months ago, maybe yours is stuck "open"? (His was stuck closed, and was leaking at the same time)
Look at the plastic **** - pull it straight off, see if it's broken.
Our '98 broke the fan-speed ****. You turn the **** but it isn't turning the shaft. I suppose the temperature **** is just as easy to break?

How do I check if that's the problem? The temp **** does regulate heat or cold depending on the position, but how do I keep it off completely? It sound like a stupid question, but I didn't have this problem before. I have an 02 model.

I have the same problem on my 5th Gen.. I turn the heater on (maybe once in a blue moon) and when I turn it off.. it still leaks out hot air from the vents. Its a retarded problem..
do you have automatic climate control or just regular old controls?
my **** broke as well. when you pull it off you'll see that the shaft has a flat spot on it. the corresponding flat spot on the **** had broken on mine. a little JB-Weld and it's as good as new.
the HVAC system will always move a little bit of air through the vents no matter what. it's to keep you from dying of CO poisoning.

yeah there is always a little air moving through the system, even if it is all the way in the off position you can still feel some warm air......not enough to really heat up the entire car though.
