Default Metallic buzzing sound between 3-4K rpms

Just wondering if any of you have experienced a Metallic buzzing sound between 3-4K rpms if you accelerated slowly. Almost like a marble in a tin can being shaken around but very subtle and have to actually try and listen to it.

I don't know if its because of the cold weather or if its related to my visit to the dealer.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had something similar and it was the plastic engine cover over the fule injectors and such. When I installed my Hondata intake manifold gasket I had to make a spacer for the cover to bring it off the engine about .25", It was loose...

Check that and then let us know where you think the noise is coming from

Thanks guys

Greenbean, its not the intake manifold cover, I took it off and the noise was still there. Its more like a metallic noise and it will only make it when the cars in gear

I revved the car in neutral between 3 and 5 K rpms and nothing, only when its in gear. I'll call the dealer and ask them about it.

If you guys still have any more input I'd greatly appreciate it

i have the same kind of sound coming from what appears to be the left front. sounds like somethings rolling (marble or something), but only happens when i'm taken off from 1st. its crazy, thought it might be shock is loose or steering colomn. made an appnmt with dealer so i'll keep all posted, pluss its tooooo cold for me to check myself...

I have the same noise in my car. It is due to the exhaust hitting the little heat shield above the cat.

The only problem with mine is it did not make that noise going into the dealer.

Its way too cold out for me to check either.

update: I brought my car to the dealer and they could'nt hear it, go figure when I drive my car back home the noise came back. They said if it gets consistent and they can finally hear it when I bring it back, they'll fix it.

When summer rolls around I think I'll rip all the heatshields and rotor dust shields.

On a side note: the mechanic that changed my headgasket went with me on a testdrive to try and hear the rattle, he was extremely apologetic about the paint scrape under the hood and he was talking about hondata and stuff, he seemed pretty cool

The dealer put 2 coats of touchpaint, they told me to go back next week and get it smoothened down, right now it looks like clumps of paint on the strut tower

So far 300 kms and no oil leak ..........Will keep everyone posted.

Cool

Its always nice when you have a dealer with some COOL machanics....I like it when I can relate to some younger gen"X" ers. They love to come in and talk DC5
and EP3 with me.

Keep us posted on the outcome.

Ok, I just went under my car to see if I can find the noise. The heatshield that goes around the drive shaft is loose!! Should I take out the shield or tighten it?

I'd probably just tighten it if you can, then if the noise is still there try and remove it.

Then I won't be able to hear 8K revs

Honestly if the stock system was'nt that bad I would turn my radio on once in a while.

I hope with a cat-back exhaust at least it will be able to drown at this metallic buzzing sound

same problem here, if you have a upper strut tower brace, check the clearance all around it, i think the dc2s have a problem with the heatshields as well

Someone suggested it could be my cat. It looks like a pain to take off.

If in fact it is when the dealer pulled the head off, dirt or gasket material must've fallen in, thats going to be hard to argue

I dont think that some material could have fellen in that far and you would be able to hear it....They really need to put a guy in the car and lift it so you can hear underneath it and try and have him hold the rpms and duplpicate the noise...If its your cat it should be covered...In North America they all have an 8-yr/80,000 mile warranty on converters....

Also does your Sterio differ from our Bose "S" models?
