I was wondering what all the "H/T" people would do if they had the money. I was going to get a 96-00 hatchback with low miles and build the sohc DX motor (no flaming) or I was actually thinking about getting one with very high miles or one around 1000-2000 dollars and putting a motor swap in it....HELP what should I do... or what the question is what would you do. What motor could I afford If I bought a 1900 dollar hatch. ( sorry so long
)

christ if you got a car cheap enough you could easily do a GSR swap. Then again you could get just about any car with a d16 in it and get the edelbrock open track kit, and then get hondata to tune it with sequential injectors. That would be ******* super sweet. I suggest searching on turboing, the engine swaps, and see what you are going for, what type of power are you looking for, do you plan to go any further in the future.
go with a strong base.....
you got a B16 which has a good head and great tranny
an LS swap which has a nice bottom end and no vtec(big plus for me....less vavetrain) but a nasty tranny....loves boost
GSR swap...strong engine stock...simple mods and will be a blast
ITR....great all around swap, but spendy
SOHC VTEC...cheap, easy to fine, takes to mods easy, fun to boost, harder to squeeze NA out of

this question is pretty much like i bet you my b16 will beat your b16 or how do you build a turbo'ed honda?
you need to be more specific at what you want, because there are millions of possibility with that $$$
fast, cheap, reliable
just pick two!
but if I had that money I'd buy a 93 HB which weighs like 2200 and swap a B16 or a B18 into and if there are more money after that turbo that sucker or put a nitrous kit on it... you'd be in the high 12's low 13's... my 0.02 cents

I was seriously thinking about trying to find a hatch for about 2000 or hopefully lower
and trying to put a B16 If I can afford a swap. But I don't know how much a B16 swap would run me.

I agree, my 96 ek cost me about 5k and that was a steal. But on the other hand one of my buddies found a ek hatch for 3500 with tons of problems.

you better do a NICE CARFAX on it and also make sure its not missing the whole front end.. trust me 96-00 hb are pretty hard to find and if u do find them they are still pretty pricey for non-salvaged ones in cali... but then again mayb in GA its cheaper... *SHRUG*
Yeah you probably dont want a car with a salvage title. Also when you see an EK for $2,000 it will probably be bought the minute its posted. I was looking daily for an EG under $1,500 in the local newspaper classifieds, and everytime I saw one it was gone within a few hours of posting. If you really want to do a swap then get an EG, since their quite a bit lighter. Make use of the power to weight benefits of a swap.
if you can find a hatch in decent shape at that price id be surprised. good luck though, you never know. i'd go with a b18c1 or b18c5 if you can afford it. and if not go with a b16a2. but if you plan to boost it later and want to save some money on the motor go b18b with a Si tranny.

Well I have an Eg coupe now and it looks damn good... Some person left a note on my car yesterday saying that I have the cleanest civic in savannah that they have seen in a long time... It made me feel great
Anyways I guess I'll have to keep my eyes pealed for a cheep Ek.

That would be just as much as a swap.
