Default ** Need settings for my VAFC **

I have a teg with LS/Vtec turbo'd running 8 psi. I just installed the VAFC and I need help with the settings. I know its different for every set up but I just need a base to stand on. I'm using DSM 450's + Walbro 255 fuel pump + stock FPR for now and the VAFC.

Help!

retard your timing on the distributor to half way between the stock mark and that other mark thats way to the right of it... I beleive it's the white mark. Set at -36 across the board on low throttle, except 1k rpm do -34... hi throttle set at -37 across. It should run pretty good.

Good Luck!

that sounds really rich. mines up in the -40's and it runs fine just alittle rich. BTW only retard your timing 2 degrees and use a timing gun. im gonna run to my car and get the settings

ok here we go. its on a safc not a vafc so i can only pick 8 rpm points and u can pick 2 sets of 8 so u can have 16, so if i were you id just keep the other numbers around the same thing i put. that sounds confusing but hopfully you know what i mean. heres my settings (yes its rich but it doesnt cut out.)

NE Points:
2000
3500
4500
5000
5500
6000
6500
7000

Hi Throttle:
-43
-43
-43
-46
-47
-48
-49
-49

Lo Throttle:
-40
-40
-39
-39
-33
-33
-33
-33

Cross over point or what ever its called

Lo: 25% Hi: 75%

Hope this helps. BTW even though its rich i was neck to neck with a old g35 with a sr20 and i beat a SCed LS (Vids are in the kills section, look for vtc_civic's post)

Bro:

-40 is LEANER than the -37 I suggested... sooo.... I'm a bit confused. Want to edit that one?

Good luck!

PS: You WILL blow your motor if you only retard two degrees and boost anything more than like 5lbs; but don't take my word for it!

holy ****, what motor # are you on? 5, 6????

but for the timing. You can get away with less retard if you're running really rich.

On the lo throttle map, you want like -46%. Try something like this:

1k: -40%
2k: -42%
3k: -44%
4k-8k: -46%

Then, on the high throttle map, you want like -35% to -40% across the board.

You want the low throttle point to be around where you are at cruise on the highway, at a fast cruise. You want the hi switch somewhere around 70%.

Well, so far it seems that this area the best numbers for my set up ( DA LS/Vtec Turbo'd ~ 8 psi ~ Afc hack), does everybody agree?

Id imagine that would put you on the lean side. might want to keep it between 35 - 40 until you get it tuned.

No it won't.

It IS at between -35 and -40 at WOT. You don't want to run *** rich at idle and cruise, so you go leaner.

i think the best way to do it is do -35 across the board. if you cut out cause of too much fuel back it off 1% where it cuts out. and keep doing that till it stops. you'll be rich but you'll be safe

The turbo can still spool at partial throttle, thats why the two maps should look the same and not different.

The best numbers for your hack is to get it dyno tune.
my vafc setting yield 195whp..after dyno tuning 230whp..both @6psi..

I will try -35% all the way to see how it feels. Dyno tune is not an option unti I get all the turbo pipes and FMIC install. I don't drive my car everyday. Just when its nice out and we all know that thats not the case here in philadelphia right now

So, let's try -35% across the boards.
