Throttle Body Spacers??
Hey, i was just browsing thru ebay and came across some throttle body spacers, but the add failed to explain how they work. By looking at it, the in side of the bore has lines diagonally cut. I'm guessing that this induces some kinda of vortex flow or something. Is that what it does? Does it really help your performance?

one time i was watching HORSEPOWER TV and they put one on a mustang v8 and dynoed it. they actually lost like 5whp from it. imagine what it could do to an i-4.

I put a TRD one on my friend's truck. Installation was insanely easy. He had an Injen intake. I'm skeptical about this kind of thing but its TRD. I was told that a spacer will move the power down in the RPM band, which is good, but it's not so much adding power. That's like what you would do with a cam gear. Anyway, it makes this woosh sound right when you tip in to the throttle, its a very satisfying sound, almost like a turbo but coming in at the opposite time. His exhaust sounds a little more serious on acceleration, but he said he didn't notice much difference in power.
I suggest only getting it if it is some serious name brand stuff. Then install at the dyno so you can do before/after pulls for all of us.

i bought one a while ago at a car show for my 00 civic si. i did feel a bit of power from it, but not too much. i also noticed that my gas mileage went up..but again, not too much. it did make a cool whooshing sound too. if you get one, i wouldnt pay too much. i got mine for like 40 bucks. its supposed to make a vortex in your throttlebody, and increase the volume of air going into your intake manifold. unfortunately, i didnt get it dynoed with it on, and then i got a bigger throttlebody, and skunk2 IM, so i dont have it on anymore. darn thing wont fit.
o that stupid throttlebody spacer. that thing was a joke. i installed one on a 98 dx. it just bad a cool whistle sound kinda like a blow off valve for a turbo. i think that thing is a waste of money. the install was real ez. but its not worth the money. what it supposed to do is speed up the airflow as it enters the into the throttle thats y its shaped liked a helix coil.
summit racing sells this one for 105 dollars
they clain that it increases atomization and speed up th free flowing air
they say it adds horespower

ok from what i have read on that thread this thing would work wonders on a wet nitrous set up if it helps atomize the mixture what do u experts think about that

Info is pretty much all here...
Considering it MAY give about 2hp I'd say it EASILY worth the 40 bucks... An intake barely makes 2-7 hp and costs over 100...
I wish someone would make one like the spoon venturi but out of "phenolic" so it prevents heatsoak... (and I know they have the ceramic coated one's but phenolic is MUCH better at preventing heat transfer).
