Help..h22 civic running super lean..and Vafc dosnt work
Well I will start by saying i have been building supras and mr2s for about 6 years now...however a friend has a 1992(I believe) the more bubbled style civic with an h22 in it.....
Here is what is going on.....
This is the lowest model civic you can get and the people who did the h22 swap used the stock harness and h22 ecu.....I have installed a walbro 255 pump and vafc in it.....and the car runs super lean.....
It gives me a Barometric sensor(dont knwo if this would effect running at WOT) code along with o2(which would not effect a thing at WOT)...but i threw this car on the dyno jet how it came off the street it only made 153fwhp and 135TQ and its richest point was 15.2:1....we did some adjusting of the afc and we tried richining it up to maxx of the afc's abilities and it didnt change a damn bit
It was as if i installed it incorrectally..however we checked and double checked everything and 100% right and all connections show correct volatge and so fworth....anyways....if anyone knows about this swap and can give me some pointers i am virgin to hondas.....i believe this car is a VX?
but any advice would be greatly appreciated
David

Do you know what injectors the guy is running? What is his fuel pressure? Have you tried uninstalling the vafc and just running the car with the stock ecu alone?
I know the p13 runs the h22 pretty rich with the factory settings.

he is running the factory jdm injectors....I think i read they are 330's or 370's...and yes i have disconnected the afc and we still have no chnage
I have not checked fuel pressure....I plan to run a hot wire directally to the pump and see if the pump isnt getting enough juice....and I'll check fuel pressure
I have read that if you get a barometric pressure code that you need a new ecu....we can get a gsr one and i believe those are supposed to add a few ponies.....
thanks for your help.....but do you know of any issues usuing the vx harness with h22 motor?
thanks David

he needs bigger injectors for the VAFC hack. Thats prolly why you're getting the MAP sensor code and why it's super lean. Is it lean before boost also or just when it's fully spooled?

There is no boost this is just an jdm(motor)h22 civic...I hope i was not implying there is boost..becasue if he had a 15.2:1 as his richest point and was boosted he would ahve gernaded long ago
I will do a little searching for this Vafc hack...however i just wired it in for a 94 h22...but it is lean without the afc....
So is it okay to use the vx harness with h22 motor and ecu?
thanks for all your imput so far guys
cheers David

thats ok bro....does anyone else think it could be the ecu...or any ideas
I know toyotas not hondas
I am stumped...maybe we will just do an aem standalone and i will build him a harness($$$$$$)

Check your fuel pressure regulator. Mine was running lean also. Turn out that i had a faulty fpr. So i'll check there and also try to get a gauge to see where your fuel pressure is at.
