5Gen turbo misfire issues ?? maybe fuel?
Hello all
I have a 98 SH 5Gen t03 prelude that I just purchased from an auction engine seemed to be in good condition When I got it the boost controller had been ripped out of it So it had a lot of boost spikes - I put on a turbonetics manual boost controller and that helped out a lot. However now I think Im having an ignition or fuel issue? - The car has a Vortech inline fuel pump and fuel regulator (12:1 I would assume) S-AFC and a boost retard dial. I dont think there after market injectors? And I know its not an aftermarket fuel rail.
This is what I know In the morning when the car is fresh I start it and it sounds like its misfiring -then it throws a 71 code which is the cylinder one or four misfire I believe. I checked that I am getting spark when I pull the plug wire off the last cylinder ((Furthest one to the right) then engine makes no changes in the way it sounds or runs? Which I know is not right. It should stutter a little and sound like I lost spark in the cylinder- So . After a while of warming up it returns to normal and all sounds well and runs well This only happens when it sits for a long period of time? Another thing I notice is that it will randomly not idol correct - it will rev up to 1500 then drop to 1000 and back and forth it goes.
I am very new to a force inducted h22 motor in the 5gen ludes I do know a lot about a Toyota Supra TT motor and single turbo swaps, and its mechanics - so I know the basic concepts here, I would like to talk to someone that has a 5 gen turbo lude or anyone that might be able to help out that can pass along some knowledge
