sorry guys, but i have to ask...............
i've been searching all morning (for at least 2.5 hours, i swear) for a thread or a how-to on painting your own car..... i can't find anything! i looked all over honda-tech and on clubsi. i figured for sure there would be a sticky somewhere to outline the details.... guess i was wrong........ so, would one of you be so good as to link me to the info i seek? or can someone explain it to me in some detail?
i'm looking for info on removing dents and dings, sanding and prepping, and painting (of course). also, what kinds of tools should i invest in to do the job nicely? and any other advice is always appreciated. thanks in advance.

i think one of the reasons that there isn't a diy on this, is because its not something you should normally do. it takes quite alot of work and experience to finish a car from top to bottom and make it look presentable.plus the equipment you have to buy (paint guns, compressors, filters, lights, a paint bay (or some other idea you have to cure the paint) makes it very hard to do this diy style.
any other questions just ask.

some of the talent of my coworkers amazes me.

I wouldn't reccomend painting you're own car unless you know what you are doing. I had a friend one who bought a nice spray gun and clean out his entire garage.
He tapped of everything, sanded, primed, just did everything needed, and it came out half ***...I think him and Macco could have been in the running! So he went to get it done prof.
Since then he just paints body parts and they come out great, but as far as a full car I don't think he has tried that lately

thanks for the link.... lots of good info there. i in no way intend to insult anyone's work by painting the car myself.... it's just that i don't care too much about the paint job. i just want to pull out some dings and dents and smooth the paint out a little. i've been airbrushing things for years, so i was wondering if i could just run some automotive paint through that after sanding and refinishing certain areas of the car.... i just want it to blend in properly. thanks for the ideas, though. if i can't do the work with my airbrush i'll just take it to macco.
It's a tough thing to do good...I paint, but I'm also learning everytime and have yet to attempt a car. I'm going at it this summer though...You have to start by learning how to paint (the techniques involved, the type of guns, the types of paint, and how to avoid all sorts of problems like orange peel)The only real way to get better is to practice. 90% = Prep Work, 10%painting. In other words, it's mostly about how you prep your car. But you also need to know how to use your gun and the setttings on it so you don't shoot the paint out with too much pressure or too little pressure. There are just so many little things that are so important. It's the little things that matter. Then you have to know how to use the paint and make sure you get the right amount of reducer, hardener, and etc...It's not easy...But if you try and pursue it, good luck.
