New to Honda-Tech
Hello, just posting to say wussup to everyone.
I've been a visitor to this forum for a while now, but I've never joined until now because I don't own a Honda. Still don't, but I'm getting serious about getting one. I'm in Korea right now, but when I get back I plan on getting an ITR, S2000, eg or ek hatch.
I come from a Volkswagen background. Currently drive a 02' GTI 337. It's a decent car but I'm looking to change over to the Honda family. A few friends of mine have had Honda's and personally, they are a lot more fun to drive than my car.
I'm not too knowledgeable in the Honda department, but I look foward to learning a lot from you guys around here. I've been on the vortex forum, and from what I've noticed, there is a lot less ignorance around here.
So I guess my first ITR related question would be if anyone here regrets getting an ITR for any reason? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I have no regrets purchasing my ITR, im yet to find another car that is soo much fun to drive. Unfortunately most will agree that the only real downside to this car is the rediculous theft factor it carries.
Thanks
Yeah, the Itr forum is the one that I visit the most I think, and for the past couple of years, I've been reading about sooo many thefts. It's something that I'm really concerned about since I'm considering to get one.
I think we all know someone personally who had their ITR stolen, and that's pretty scary. My friends was stolen right out of his driveway and he had a lot of deterrent features. So security is one of the first things that I would definitly invest in if I were to get one. I know most of the ITR guys here beef up on security on their cars, but it's crazy how easily they get stolen anyway.
Yeah, my future car would have to be a daily driver including heavy winter driving so it will have to be able to handle snow and salt etc. If I were to get an ITR snow tires would have to be bought also.
I have a question on the 98,99 ITRs. Since these are the older itr's they will most likely have more mileage. What things should I look for when buying an ITR? Mileage is always important. Title of course. Any small details like rust prone spots? Burning oil? I know the B series engine has a long history with aftermarket tuners. Will having a high mileage ITR be something to worry about drivetrain wise? I know the motors can be rebuilt but how expensive is it?
Also, the 98,99 itr's arn't equipped with programmed keys as a security feature correct? So that would be one thing to consider when looking for a used itr...

Hello, and welcome!
I never had any regrets in buying my ITR, in fact I loved everything about it!
As pointed out above, (being my daily driver) the only problem for me was the theft issues.

Rust could be a problem in snowbelt areas in one particular place - the rear fender wells. There is some weatherstripping type stuff wrapped around the fender lip on the rear which holds sand, salt, and grit and gunk in it and will cause rust eventually if it isn't either removed permanently and the bare lip kept free of debris, or if it isn't regularly removed and cleaned and reinstalled. I haven't seen rust in this spot on any ITR's yet, but have seen it on other 3rg gen Integra's, which are exactly the same in the rear fender well area, so it's something to check for when buying it.
My itr was very good in the snow the one time i had to drive it in snow, but i refused to ever do it again. If you throw on some snow tires you'll be fine driving it in the winter, as long as you can handle the beating the winter is gonna give it.
Oh yeah, welcome to H-T.

Hey this is chief Wiggims (if thats spelled correctly?), and just wanted to say whats up, and welcome. Owning an ITR is a lot of fun just know what your getting into having one...THEFT ISSUES, which i am sure you were reminded of in every reply above. This can be a great place to hang out and can often suck, ignore the flames, watch what you say and use the search button. Later bro!!!!!

I really like 337s...but I would have to say ITR>337.
If you want a quick, great handling honda out of the box, the ITR is your best choice.
Unless you have some heavy coin and can afford and NSX.
