Default Idle control valve

How does one adjust/control the idle control valve?

I need to adjust it so I can stop my idle dwell.

Anyone?

You can't. It's done by the ECU.

It may have just gone bad, but I've heard of people fixing them by taking it off and putting it back together.

Edit: It can be set by anyone with one of those handheld computers they use on your car. All dealers and most shops should have one. Those things are pretty sweet, I want one.

No, it is acting up after I changed the TB out...

It is dwelling at around 25-3000rpm. Sometimes it hangs there for a couple of minutes.

Very puzzling...

Vacum leak. Get a new TB gasket.

Edit: My car was doing the exact same thing last month. Mine turned out to be a cracked gasket between the blower and the manifold, but the behavior is the same.

To confirm stick a rag in your TB (with the valve closed obviously). I'll bet the car will still run.

Or it could be a bad ECU connection somewhere. Are you using a V-AFC?

I'll try the rag trick. I am skeptical because the car does return to a normal idle... so we will see.

ECU connection? No, the other TB worked fine. The irony is that the other one was a pre-production unit I was not meant to have, yet it worked better than the production unit. Holley offered me a job; due primarily to the fact that I got the pre-production unit to work and no one else could. It was kind of funny....

Anyways, thanx. I will try and report.
