Default idle problem with ectune

hey guys

right ive had this problem with my Idle control valve since i built the turbo B in my dc2 ITR.

basicly what happens is the idle control valve appears to work fine for a while and then it starts to play up.. sometimes the idle sticks quite high at around 1500-2000rpm sometimes higher, sometimes doesnt work at all (more often than not it stops working completly)

anyways we checked everything we could think of even changing the idle control valve 4 times with ones known to be working properly.

the car is running on ectune, and when the idle control valve starts to play up, it is un responsive to adjustment on the laptop (when its working correctly you adjust the idle up or down on the laptop and the rpm will obviously respond to the adjustment, however when trying to adjust the idle through ectune once the idle control valve starts to play up, it does not respond at all..) however if you replace the idle control valve with another it starts to respond again, but it doesnt last and ends up like before.

idle control valve
checked voltage and wiring to idle control valve from ecu
changed ecu

have reached a dead end as to what to check next so we ended up disconnecting the idle control valve and setting the idle by the TB but its not the best way to do it on a daily driver as it will only idle once fully warmed so cold starts every morning are a real pain.. just wondering if anyone has had this problem before..?

thanks alot

When you tune on ectune you use the iat corrections to make the car idle nice when the car is cold. It sounds like a tuning issue. Also if you have injectors that use a resistor box it's hard to make it idle like factory.Hope this helps.

its running saturated 750cc injectors. when you put a new/good idle control valve on the car it seems to work, but then after a day or week (varies) its starts to play up and stops responding.. its strange for sure but there must be a reason.

Iat correction. I had similar issues. If it only happens when the car is cold then that's your issue

right im just looking into my obd conversion harness to make sure the IACV wires are correct..

i am running a 2WIRE IACV (ITR) ive checked the wires on the conversion harness and it appears that i have 3 wires that are actually going into the ecu from the conversion harness

i have the following wires

connector A

PIN 12 (IACV VTEC MODELS ONLY) this is the black and blue wire that goes to the IACV plug

PIN 14 (IACV POSITIVE) DONT KNOW WHAT THIS ONE IS FOR??

PIN 24 (IGP2 - POWER SOURCE) this is the black and yellow wire that goes to the IACV plug

Did you tune the iat correction?

I can assure you the problem is not eCtune's software as I have been tuning cars on eCtune before the software was even public & never had an issue.

I would recommend posting your calibration on the ectune forums to get feedback on what you may be doing wrong. You also may want to try using another ecu if you have not already done so...
