109 may live?
well, i had a big argument with insurance about the settlement on my car after they told me it was a total loss. i faxed them about 10 grand in recipts for aftermarket parts, and told them i wanted the salvage also, and that i had a lawyer who would get me at least some of that money back. they call me back and say that they are going to look at it again to see if they can repair it and ill know monday. i would love to have my baby back, so this makes me happy, but i dont want a bent car. i know the frame was twisted a bit because it was a head on, but the rear hatch didnt close right, and the paint was chipped in a few places along the roofline. can they get a car straight after something like that, and is there a place i can take it afterwards to make sure they did it right? if it does work out, wheres a good place for JDM front ends. real honda parts only, no plastic.
I wouldnt repair it if it twisted the frame, but then thats just me. If you track the ITR, its not gonna help at all. IF i were in your shoes, i would fight to buy the car back as is, buy a EG and drop everything in the EG, you'll have one bad *** track/street car.
if they dont fix it, im definatly out of the honda camp. i have a line on a sweet FC3S for dirt cheap, at least until i decide what i really want. only reason id buy it back is because i cant stand the thought of some little punk finding all my pretty parts in a junk yard. id rather choose who gets it, even if i take a loss. but i agree with you, im not going to let them fix it unless they can convince me they can get it straight. ive only seen the car once since the accident, so maybe its not as bad as i remember it.

first of all, it is possible to be fixed. You will want to take it to a reputable collision repair body shop. They will have to put it on a frame rack and pull it out. This can not be done at an Acura dealer body shop.
If the frame is bent then it really isn't worth trying to fix. They can straighten it, but the overall structural integrity isn't ever going to be the same.

i disagree.. they can do some pretty amazing things at bodyshops these days..
but i think, personally, i'd still prefer them to total it and buy it back.. i DOUBT you would lose money on it..

it sounds like it hit pretty hard if it twisted enough to chip the paint on the roof, not to mention your hatch dont line up. so thats saying the car has a good bend in it. personally( since i went to school for frame pulling and been rebuilding salvage cars for the last 13 years) id let the car be totalled or buy it back and sale off the parts or something along that line. if you do want it fixed that bad look for a good auto body shop, not a dealership shop, but someone whos speciality is in frame straightening.
A friend of mine had an explorer with a frame that was twisted all to hell. He took it out of town to some shop whos name I can't remember and two weeks later you couldn't tell anything had ever happened. My point is it can be fixed, but is fixing it what you really want. I think it's worth it to keep an R on the road.
seemed like they were just saying "**** it, total it" up untill he brought them the reciepts, i hate crooked ******* insurace companies like that.
have any pics of the car before and after it happened? were you ok?

If you were in a frontal accident and it affected all the way to the back of the car, then the frame is seriously jacked. I would not want a car like this back no matter how good the shop is.

considering that they actually have machines these days that get the body frame back and even closer to factory specs than the frame machines at the production site....a bent frame wouldnt concern me nearly as much as the title being salvaged.
