I'm looking to buy a fourth gen Civic hatchback or CRX, however I really don't want the door mount shoulder mounts. (just a personal problem)

I had an 89 SI hatchback and it had the body mount style shoulder belts (which I like). A friend has an 89 CRX and it has the door mount style.

So, the question is; what year did Honda go to the door mount shoulder belts. Is it possible that it was a mid-year change?

90-91 has door mount. 88-89 has regular mounting!

 

for the crx

89-91 Si and DX had door mounted
90-91 HF had door mounted

90-91 civic had door mounted...

yeah it will have door mounted seatbelts if its an 89 si or dx...

the US is the only country to have gotten this...every other country in the world got pillar mounted belts...

 

I think it's dumb to have it mounted on the door. I have a 91 crx and it's mounted on the Door..

If the door flys open, you wont have any more support from the seatbelt.

 

i hate it for that reason too...but the only good thing out of it is...it will save you money on insurance because they are "automatic seatbelts"

 

i have a 90 STD and has door mount belts and i hate them to dead if u go to open the door before u take the belt off it damn near pulls u out of the car. the reason i forget that is my 89 dx has the pillar mount belts so u can open the door with ur belts still on. door belts= ****
