Alright guys I have this noise comin from my 97 Si its got 120 000 KM on it. It sorta sounds like a knock , but its not really that loud, and I can only hear it at specific RPM.

Umm not really sure how long I have had the noise, but its goin on .... maybe 3 months now, doens't really seem to be getting worse or if it is VERY slowly.

Lately I have notice that I can't hear it when I first start to drive my car it only seems to make the sound under load, and when I have brougth the car right up to operating temp. and only starts at 3000 - 3800 rpm.
I am really confused cause most mechanical problems will be worse in cold conditions and get better when warm, this is doin the complete opposite !??

I am from canada and we have like 2 staight weeks of -15 weather so if I had any cold start symptoms I would be hearing them for sure, but the car seems to start run fine, the vavles will tick for about 30sec untill the oil gets to them and everythign warms up but that is the only thing I hear on start up .

Anyoen please??? I have posted this on a number of board adn no oen ever seems to respond.

 

Without actually hearing the noise I can't be sure but my old D16 was doing almost the same thing and it turned out to be a main bearing going out. It started off real light, almost souded like a loose bolt or somethin rattling around but as time went on it got real loud. If you can,get a stehoscope (sp?) and see if you can find out where it's coming from.
