Default headgasket replacement

Is it better to tighten down the head to the block and let it sit for a while(2 weeks) before putting in the fluids or does it not matter? And once you put the fluids in, if there is still a leak will it leak right away or would the car have to be started up to get the heat produced? Would I see oil in the antifreeze right away or not? Thanks alot.

You better go by the book on this one. Use every sequence and torque spec.

Letting it sit is not going to make a difference. If it's going to leak, it'll leak.

Make sure your head and block deck aren't warped by checking them with a truebar, and use new head bolts. Cleaning the surfaces with a razor blade helps a lot also, just don't gouge the metal.

For performance, we use ARP head studs and a Cometic metal head gasket.

Good luck.
