calling all hondata owners
ok i just got hondata flash #4 and got everything back to togethere and everything i read talks about how smooth he transition is going into vtec, and i get in mine and when i get on it it hesitates really bad between 5200 and 5800. the car goes, it's faster but it just dips like a champ around 5400 or so. any ideas? anyone else have this problem? thanks in advance.
What exhaust system do you have. In particular, what is the internal diameter of the rear muffler compared to the pipe going into the rear muffler?

Pull the fuse, its #6, disconnecting the battery makes you have to reset ur windows, put in ur security code for the radio and reset all ur stations.

I have dynoed two systems in the last few months with restrictive exhausts. One was on a supercharged RSX. The rear muffler had an internal diameter of about 4 cm, about 2 cm less than the pipe going into the rear muffler.
This aftermarket catback exhaust produced about 25 hp less than a stock catback system on a similar supercharged car.
The second was a different brand, but similarly restrictive on a Civic Type R with Toda cams. This exhaust produced a big dip after VTEC and lost about 20 peak HP compared to a loud replacement exhaust.
Lesson:
Looks and sound can cost you money and power.

I have stock exhaust. Now i have reset my ecu and it kinda got better but there is still the dip. first gear is fine, but if a do a roll on in second or third it gets that dip between 52 and 5800.
yes. cold air. the car is pulling hard as hell and in first it doesn't do it. i jsut ran my buddies m coupe and hung with him. and he use to kill me by like 10 cars... so i don't know
Did you let the ecu perform the Idle learning procedure...Not that it would matter reading about your dip...the thing that gets me is that they lower your vtec to 5,200 with the CAI. I'd call them as get some 411.
well i mean vtec comes in at 5200 and then it sounds like it opens again at 5800 but in the middle it dips . and it doesns't do it in frist. i don't know i ma going ot call hondata for info first thing monday just for peice of mind. thanks for the input.
