Default Steering problems

89 DX

Replaced outer tie rods
Replaced knucles with 88 CRX Si knucles
Car is stock
Changed steering wheel with an 89 Accord EXi, not sure if I put it on streaight
Was aligned last week

When it came back from the alignment, the steering was croocket...I figgured it was just that I had put the wheel on crooket intially. I corrected the problem, but I cant center the wheel. When the car drives straight, the wheel is 5 degrees off center. I cant center it since the splines only allow movement in 10 degree intervals. So its a little to the right, or a little to the left.

My main problem is that the steering isnt as agressive as I'd expect, I had a buddy with an SI drive it and as soon as he got in he said the same thing, that the steering was odd. We checked the number of turns lock to lock to see if they might not have diferent racks...here is the odd part

My wheel can turn 2.1 turns left and 1.75 turns right

I called the shop that did the alignment (I figgured that they fucked it up, or ghettoed it to get the wheels straight) The guy responded with

"Your master spline on the rack is off. Someone must have changed the rack in the past and not put it on right"

This could be possible since I havent owned the car for long, and I know the mech pretty well.

Any hypotheses on my problem? Its not an inconvenience, but its worrying my a bit.

Also (could be unrelated) I noticed a large ammount of vibration from driving the car faster than 80 kph, to the point where my skin shakes hard. I assumed it was snow in the tires from driving through too many snowbanks but I think I got most of it off with a spray nozzle (not sure yet...too cold to check) and I have the same problem.

so I guess no one knows?

Side note, I ghetto aligned the car myself today, and now the steering is better.

about 1.8 left and 1.9 right.

Still takes allot of steering to turn

You should of took it right back or they should of told you about it before you drove away. There suppose to center it, I would call them up and complain more. As far as the vibration, when was the last time you had your wheels balanced ? I would look into that.
