I've read on several post about people ripping their subframes even with a Beaks SRK. So, I was wondering has anyone tried to use their own method or home made product to reinforce the subframe? Cause all the Beaks SRK really does is spread the pressure caused by the rear sway bar. Please tell me different methods or direct me towards the general direction. Thanks in advanced.

 

if i was to make one... i'd make the plates bigger. why dont u look into the SRR kit??

 

I have the Progress Group rear bar and it came with a bracket. the bracket is 1/4 inch thick and it's pretty stable. you don't need to drill a hole like the Beaks kit. the bracket goes into the existing top hole and goes into the existing lca bolt .. If I get to my car this weekend I'll try to get some pictures and post them.

 

comptech made one for their bar: a 10mm thick billet aluminum brace. can't go wrong with that. the brace bolts to the subframe, and the bar bolts to the brace. so to tear the frame, the bar has to tear through that brace first - not happening.

go with the comptech. quality and design is top shelf.

 

I personally would give the Comptech a try.

 

just put more metal in between the subframe and your sway bar.. If I were to make one I would make one that would bolt up to the three holes instead of the two..

Go with the SRR full setup, then the sway bar mounts to the STRONG brace and not the subframe:

 

That Comptech setup looks awesome, I might have to get rid of my ST rear sway bar setup for that one....

 

I'm very happy with my Comptech bar and would definitely recommend it.

 

Never had a problem with a compramised subframe with the Beaks SRK. 8kg/mm rear springs. Honestly, the swaybar bushing band will tear through the bolt heads before the SRK tears through the subframe.

Yes that's the Comptech. I got it for the average price.

There is absolutely no reason to get the SRK, 22mm ITR rear w/ hardware, and a tie bar. You save about $50 unless you score a bunch of deals on used parts or your internet dick is huge and everything on your car was about 75% off normal retail prices. If you don't buy a cheesy *** tie bar, then yeah, you save a decent amount of money. Oh, the Comptech bar is three-way adjustable and has adjustable heim-jointed endlinks.

I go autocrossing 1-3 times a month during the season. I won't risk my subframe with a SRK, it doesn't spread out the stress enough.

Kinda confused by the guy up there with $1500 coilovers and $200 LCAs. Why'd you cheap out on the swaybar?

Back from the dead,- can you get just the comptech bar and use an ITR Swaybar? I already have the ITR bar and S/T mounting kit, but I want to reduce the risk of destroying the subframe...

 

It depends on your spring rate too. The sway bar is supposed to compliment good damper setups, not be the heart of it. If the subframe is tearing out, your putting most of the stress on the swaybar not on the dampers. Good spring rate is key, otherwise reinforce the hell out of it

 

The swaybar needs to be free to rotate in those chassis hoop mounts. If you overtighten them, the swaybar will put added stress on the subframe and that is not how it is intended to work.

Some guy here just got a flat piece of metal and bolted it at both sides, after reinforcing the factory welds on the subframe and putting some small reinforcements inside it.

 

I have the Comptech bar on my hatch and I love it. Just transfered it to the hatch after I wrecked the GSR

Do you or anybody else have any more info on this brace? Looks like a solid piece.
