stock axles
how much whp have u guys used with stock axles at the track. i don't know if my axles will stay together if i race with slicks. i would like to launch at about 4-5000 rpm but i don't wanna get stuck at the track. i believe i have about 240 whp.
get ready to push that car out of the lane if you launch at 5k with 240whp and on slicks with stock axles a few times.
what mods do you have, 240 is nice?? i presume your name means you've got a 18G on there? thats a big boy.

i remember seeing it in a magazine; I'll dig it confirm it and get exact power but im sure it was over 400 on stock axles. Though I will find it, If it has aftermarket then it will say in the specs columns.
Have you tried searching for broken axles to see if you can find causes?

he is?!!!!???? damn i seen his post where he dyno'd over 400whp. i guess i'm safe with mid 200's on slicks. thanks guys. oh if my axles break i'll charge u guys.
well if ur valve job is too aggresive then ur axles might break! No seriously use the axles till they snap then buy new ones.... The truth is u just don't know? I know people who have run 400 even 500whp on stock civic axles and the reverse I've seen people complaining about breaking stage 2 axles with way less power... Just stick with stock till they break. my .02
The shop i help at has a civic with 650 to the wheels with stock axles and has no problem, I also know another shop owner that is pushing 850 hp (approx) on stock axles. Now at 850 they do break occasionally but according to him they last much longer than any thing else such as moroso axles. Like i said these are both civics and i know you have a lude but they are both genuine honda parts, and thats a beautifull thing to have,
Hope i could help,

Check with me in a couple days and i can get more accurate and exact numbers for you but you should have no problems with 240 whp unless you have corrosion problems with your axles

thanks guys. i'll just try using the stock axles, but i'm gonna buy some used ones from a junk yard just in case. i don't wanna be stranded at the track.
Speaking of stock axles, you guys know of anybody breaking them on stock horsepower? You know, like, because of high mileage and lots of hard driving, autoxing on Azenis, wheel hop sometimes, etc? I'm worried in the back of my mind about this.

having backups from a junkyard might be ok for a backup set only, but i wouldnt like using them for too long cause along with the junkyard you recieve its dreaded accompice......corrosion, but if your stock ones are good i wouldnt worry too much with the little bit of boost your running

Raise the car up. If its not slammed to the ground like all the other idiots I have seen break axels. Even though its on slicks it is still going to spin slightly depending ont eh tire size which is good. When your car hooks up is when u start to break axles good luck
I'm still running stock axles (unfortunately) - with 550+whp...
Here is what i've experienced:
-stock axles worked flawlessly for me with 350whp (300ftlbs). That is with 22inch slicks and launches at 6000-6500rpm.
-stock axles were not sufficient for 400whp (350ftlbs). Two attempts resulted in snapping the axles instantly on the line with launches at 6200rpm. At 550whp (450ftlbs)...no runs have been made, b/c they of course won't work with that much power.
Long story short, stock should be fine until 300whp for sure. After that it is just the luck of the draw.
