Default 90 Honda CRX Si....Sunroof problem.

My sunroof from my 90 CRX Si opens fine but has a very hard time closing. Only way i can close it is if a keep clicking the switch time and time again. Sometimes i have to click it like 100 times to move it about a centimeter to close. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

So both of you guys are giving me the same answers? It has something to do with the switch itself you think? If so, what part would i need to order from the Honda dealership. Those bastards will charge about $180 to simply take the time to look at the sunroof which is a joke, if i can do it myself, i will.

call a junk yard and try to find a used working switch. you might want to try the classifieds here on HT.

my buddy had so many problems with his crx sun roof so we tried to fix it got it to move kinda, but in the end he just broke the track...once he was parting out the car i took his switch and sure enough my sunroof was doing what his was doing before....check the switch first.

Whenever my sunroof is hard to close it always been one of these three things. Tracks and cables need lube. Tracks and cables have debris and crap stuck in them and causing it to jam, or it was extremely cold out.
I've never had a problem with my switch. Of course now I've just jinxed it so the switch will crap out in the next couple of days.

I used to have the exact same problem with my HB, and here is the solution:

first of all, it's your switch, nothing more than that.[*]remove your switch[*]open it, it's pretty simple, you'll figure it out[*]examinate closely the order of things, if possible, take a pic for future reference.[*]once you have it open, you'll notice a small metal part that rocks one side or the other. that metal part makes the contact to either open or close your sunroof.[*]i'm 105% sure, the closing contact on your switch is dirty. get a small piece of sand paper, or just scrub it with a sharp object, to remove the dirt.[*]once you've done that, re-asemble the switch as it was b4[*]plug it and test it. voila, problem solved.

if i had pics, i would post them. that happened about 6 years ago, and i found my way of fixing up the switch like that until i got a replacement from the j-yard.

good luck all!!!

OK, i just disconnected the sunroof switch from the wiring. Their is the black switch part and the white connecting part, i need to disconnect these two and just clean the inside of the switch?

And the sunroof opens with no problem but closing doesn't work until every 30 attempts at closing it. What i mean is, it doesn't budge little at a time, it only closes all the way in about every 30 attempts. So i'm thinking their has got to be some bad connection with the closing portion of it.

Do not use White Lithium grease. It will harden and gunk up the cable and tracks over time.
