which ecu should i use for my b16 swap????
hello guys. im about to pick up my motor in hmotorsoline to get my crx swap for the weekend. and i dont know what ecu to get, the pr3 or the pw0. now whats the diffence between the two. and does it matter? which one is better??
then whats obd0 and obd1 its one is obd1 and the other is obd0???? i thought depending on your ecu. thats what determine the obd0/obd1 thingy. sorry if im being an idiot. i dont know any thing about these stuff. im more like a computer nerd.dont know anything about these heheehehe. and which obd is better.
if it's obd0 and it's just a daily driver the PR3 is great. The pw0 is just a waste of time, stock that is.
I have a pr3 for daily driving and a "chipped" PW0 for trackdays and the such.
If I had OBD1 (in hindsight I should have gotten in the first place!!!!) I would use something like a p72 and a vafc

if i had OBD-1 i would run a p30
EDIT: which i am actually going to have soon

P30 has datalogging, launch control, and more programs than a PR3 (although the PR3 does have a lot).
Looking back, I would have converted to OBD-1 also.

exactly
obd1 pr3's seem kinda rare.. and deff not a desireable ecu IMO

the obd0, 1, 2 depends on year of car, etc
unless you convert to obd1(you need - distributor, conversion harness, 4wire o2 sensor) then you are stuck with obd0ecus.

I ran the pr3, then the pwo. I liked the pwo more because it fit in the mounting location better. The car ran the same for me with both units. Ryan

what about performance. and ive read somewhere that having obd1 helps your car pass smog and smog legal or something in that matter. im not realy sure.

if you want to be smog legal in cali you MUST do an OBD-1 conversion

Yeah, if you want to be smog legal you have to be OBD1 or OBD2, but those motors cost more $$$$....

I do believe the injectors are of a different type, and need to be changed as well when converting from OBD0 to OBD1, etc.
To convert, you need: obd1= injectors, dizzy, conversion harness, 02 sensor (4 wire), and ecu. (I think thats it)
To be cali smog leagl, you need all mentioned, and a del sol, or similar intake mani. Basically it has to have the same format as the del sol, that way the ref can check proper vac. lnes, exc... Also a US ecu (obd1) is needed, they are hard to come by.

Yes the injectors AND their plugs ARE different, but you don't NEED to use the OBD1 injectors and plugs to convert to OBD1. You can keep your OBD0 injectors.
If you keep the resistor box wired in and leave OBD0 the plugs.
