JDM h22a VTEC swap concerns..
to those who have done engine swaps to the JDM h22a VTEC engine..
as you may or may not know, im looking to buy a 4th gen vtec lude. the rarity of these cars is astounding. maybe thats a reason why i want it so much.
anyway, ive seen a few that have JDM h22a engine swaps in them. are there any special things that i should look out for in cars that have this swap? any difficulties while doing the installation? maybe not difficulties, but caveats that i should be aware of? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

It should drop in with no problems. The fuel rail's inlet is on the opposite side from the USDM H22. Just swap it with a USDM fuel rail, or upgrade to an AEM or Venom rail.
Also, most people I've talked to have a damaged TPS sensor under the throttle body. But, if you still have your stock H22/23, you can use the TB from that engine. I believe the intake manifold from both engines are the same.
Other than that, I believe there shouldn't be any trouble. Just check out the engine before you drop it in. I would check for compression and any leaks. Also, when you get it in, always check the timing. With JDM engines, there could have been alot done to it, or nothing done to it. Just get it checked out before you find out that there's something wrong with it AFTER you dropped it in. :D Good luck.

There might be a downpipe/exhaust fitment issue. There is a guy on our board that did this, JDM H22a into a 4th gen SR. If you post something in the tech section, I'm sure he will tell you of his experiences.
They had noproblem droping my JDM H22A and i have a 92 with a 94 jdm motor.
I droped the car off on a friday and picked it up on sunday.
And it was a hole new car.
