i got my B20 civic to pass smog, yay but one little problem...
i recently got my B20 EK hatch smogged and it passed like a brand new car. The only thing that worries me is when the car was weighed, it came to be about 2,750 lbs. I checked the curb weight on stock civics and integras:
Curb weight is the weight of a vehicle that is ready to drive, with all fluid levels topped up and a full tank of gas, but without occupants or cargo.
Civics: 2,330 lbs or about
Integs: 2,643 lbs or about
My '98 civic hatch with a stock b20 motor, type r header, cat and piping got a whooping 2,750 lbs. Now wouldn't this be part of a smog information sent over to the DMV. Wouldn't they be suspicious? lol
Isn't that a lot for a hatch with no rear seats? How did everybody else's civics did when put on the scale?
Also on the odometer it reads 34,615 to the DMV whereas my stock D16 motor should be around 75,000. Now would they "odometer" trip on me?

This is off topic but is your b20 vtec or no? If no vtec have you done times and what tranny are you using. Im considering the swap, thanx
non-vtec b20z with gsr tranny with type r header, cat, and exhaust....
i would say a b20 motor with i/h/e can easily get low 15's and high 14's...

connections my friend at a "test only station"....my b20 passed easily with a gsr cat, just smog the car as a civic thus overlooking the visuals....
i'm still stumped how can my hatch be weighed in at 2,750. There may be an inaccuracy in the machine, and that may affect my smog certification when examined my sacramento.

So what you should have said in your orignal post is that you just ILLEGALLY smogged your B20 and it passed without any problems. This is not news. There should be no reason that a B20 could not pass the sniffer. Its just the fact that it is considered a "truck" engine that makes it illegal. Just to clarify that so people don't rush out and do the swap now thinking they can ref them, because you CANNOT.
