They claim to be nearly the same as the Audi/BMW beautiful purple color. Does anyone know if they are a quaity product? They are going for 450.00$
Also does anyone know if they use the D2R's or D2S bulbs? Which one was the one we need for our ITR's? I was going to go in with the phillip's GB, but found out the light they put out is white. I want the purple color these claim to put out. I am wondering if they are as bright, and quality as the phillips?

I checked out the G.B. It doesn't even state which ballast it's using (i.e. Phillips, Osram, etc.) Plus, the whole "purple" HID sounds ghey. My HID is from Trevor (last g.b. on H-T.com) and it's a beautifule white-blue. I wouldn't want it to be "purple" or "blue"... that's just asking for the cops to pull me over. That's my 2cents.
THis kit uses *2* boxes. One that is the ballast and one thats called a starter.
A lot of extra wire and equipment.
Plus the cartridges are not sstandard so if one goes out, you would have to
find a direct replacement whereas with a standard philips kit you can get
the D2S cartridge yourself and refit it.

BMW/Audi HID's aren't purple at all. I compared my Phillips/Hella HID's with a BMW, an S2000, and an S4 and they look identical in terms of color -- both bulb color (slighly blue'ish) and "thrown" light color (soft white, like the light from a TV set).
Be very careful. It's not the bulb or ballast that creates any "purple" effect on the Audi/BMW. It;'s the housing. A friend ran some experiments and inserted BMW hardware into a different housing. Sorry folks but it's the housing causing the color. The only way I can think of that they are making a kit is to actually dye the HID bulbs a purple color which cuts down their effectiveness. I would also be very skeptical about beam pattern being correct. I had a friend buy some 9006 bulbs (who is on this board actually). I traded him the bulbs for some D2S's beam corrected and when he sent me his old ones I found out these so called "beam corrected" bulbs were off by 3/8 of an inch! My advice, I wouldn't do it.
This is the K2/VISION kit. Like Steve said, they use "special" bulbs, so if one fails, you'll have to get a direct replacement.
I don't get the starter and ballast thing either

OK Dan, I know **** about HID lights, and this may sound stupid, but why the hell would the 9006 HIDs be any different from putting any other non OE manufacturer 9006 bulb in? I mean, there will be room for adjustment, but damn... you'd think there would be some quality control on a 9006 HID($$$) "bulb replacement"... what am I missing?
Zeus, who knows jack-**** about HID lighting...

I was hoping that kit would be legit. Back to the drawing board. Okay, so is there a kit out that has it's housing modified to acheive the "purple" colored beams that is worth purchasing?
I don't see how everyone is saying Audi/BMW/S2K HID's aren't purple. They are a deep purple, even when warmed up they still have a purple haze to them. Do the phillips kit's have this look? Some say it does, most say it doesn't.
Nothing in the import world can be simple.

let's just say its my little secrete.... And no thats not a dyed blue HID bulb. And both are out of warm up. To the left is my old special HID, to the right is my new HID! ahahahahahahahaha
If you want a color tint with the HID bulbs get the kit they sell on Autolamps-online.com they have a new phillips 6000k kit which has a higher color temp than that 4000k kit.
Here's a link to the site that shows the difference.

A true 6000k HID blub is NOT tinted!!!!!! A tinted blub (ie making the glass blue) is like buying plasma blue RAZO bulbs! They are weak not brightness. IMO if you buy tinted blue glass "6000k" HID bulbs, then your defeating the sole purpose of buying HID's!!!!! HID's are ment to be bright, color correct, and basically perfect! Tinted blue glass HID's (which I have seen and tested) are VERY weak on brightness. I would compair them to a 85w version of halogen RAZO blue bulbs. THAT IS SO LAME IMO!!!!!!!
Damn I can't believe that people are now ricing out HID bulbs by tinting the glass color!

Any chance you could share your secret with us? Or could I pay you to change a normal kit to that color? Email me if your interested. Or i'll check this board again tomarrow afternoon.

its really nor something that I could do to a kit. The kit I use is quite different which is why I payed so much for it along time ago.
Here's a picture of both next to each other. Notice, no blue tint! Sorry for the bad quality, but taking a picture of a light blub is quite hard for some reason! lol

So is it just the bulbs that are different? Or is there something else that makes it look so much brighter and blue??
if you want "purple" lights, get some piaa plasmas or something. Main advantage of HID's: use less wattage when lit, light up the road, and they blind oncoming traffic. The "purple" color you are seeing is b/c of the angle of the light is just between the cutoff of the pattern. You're simply seeing the reflection of the light from the lense, reflector, or plastic cover. The light is not purple or blue, just more white than halogen. Retrofitting HIDs on cars that didn't come with them will not have a good beam pattern, no matter what the "correction" kits they use (pieces of pepsi cans is one of the correction kits I've seen).
