This afternoon I had my Smog Check done on my CRX and was told that my cat is going bad.

Im going to replace it soon and was looking for information or recomendations on aftermarket cats.

P.S. Im running a stock d16a6 with dc header and spp exhaust.

 

If you're looking to replace your cat, you might as well go with a higher flow one. Don't get me wrong, the OEM Honda cat flows very nicely - but you can get even better.

IMO, the CarSound cat is a good quality high-performance converter. Buy it w/out the flanges and you won't get ripped off. Personally I have had bad experiences with all of my CatCo cat's that I've used... (very weak, prone to melting/breaking)

 

how much did you pay for the CarSound cat? how much would it be WITH the flanges?

 

Whoops I should have said that Im trying to avoid going with an OEM cat since they are so expensive.
Thats why Im looking at an aftermarket one.

I got my carsound on ebay for like 45 shipped. It is a 2 1/4" cat with no flanges welded on. The seller performancepeddler on ebay has tons of sizes and models with o2 bungs and all that good stuff. Very fast shipment.

I had a 3" Catco before on a turbo car and it passed emissions. It held up very well since it was SS.

 

Ok so carsound and catco...

has anyone else used random tech cat's?

I have one of those too, (for sale too). They are very nice. Not worth the price they sell for new though.

 

I keep seeing alot of them on ebay with an Air inlet. Im asuming I dont need the inlet.

Anyone know the right model number for either a catco or carsound for my crx?
