When I first heard news and newly released information on the new Integra Type R I was excited. All the new technologies had made up for the strut suspension that Honda decided to employ and I started to forgive Honda.
Then I got a copy of a BM video with a side by side comparisson. My first impressions of the car had quickly vanished. Sure the car has i-VTEC and all sorts of other goodies like aluminum suspension peices and a strong torque curve, but judging by the on-board camera and time trials it didn't justify a new release. Not only was the DC5R's lap time only a second faster, it also looked dull compared to the DC2's. The DC2s just looked more funner to drive. It's like an old addictive game with sorry graphics, but yet it's so addictive.
The new Integra has gained a new face and body but lost it's soul.
I'm sticking with the DC2s.

It's not even out yet here in the states and you're saying it lost its soul? I guess they're right when they say "a picture is worth a thousand words" or something like that. The car is a new generation, thus a new body and such. It takes time to get used to new things. Relax
PS. After seeing the Beams Racing video, I digg the car!!!

that's nice
as much as I still dig my FWD hondas, and I'm sure that the upcoming R will be spectacular...it's not doing anything for me.
RWD is calling me.

I've been bitching about the struts since I first heard about them. The front suspension combined is a big part of why the DC5 hoodline is so high. That and the firewall being pushed so far forward (which necessitated the struts incidentally).
I don't see why Honda had to go and ruin the Integra just for a larger interior. They took a car that was unique in its combination of utility and fun and sucked most of the fun out to make it more appealing to the apparent fatasses that make up the car buying public. It has gone from an enthusiast's car to a car that is merely capable. It's depressing.
