Default Catalytic convertor question?

I'm doing a B18C1 swap into my 89 CRX, does anyone know if you have to use the 3 way Cat that came in OBD1 cars to have my swap smog legal / BAR in CA? Or can I use my existing Cat. ? Anyone run into this while being at the smog ref?

I've heard different things as technically the Cat. convertor is part of the emissions system. And obviously being part of the emissions system it seems as though you would need to run a 92 and up convertor to match a 95 B18C1 motor.

Same here, I'm not from CA but from what I've gathered you must retain all the smog/emssions equipment from a GSR. If the motor is an OBD1 B18C1 then you would need to have a matching ECU, catalytic converter and all other smog/emssions equipment that are fully functional. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure if this helps you any. But I have an OBD1 B17 swap that came with the original cat, and as far as I can tell the only difference between it and the OBDO CRX cat is it seems to be about an inch or so longer. Same flanges, same diameter. NO o2 sensor inputs on either one. Don't know if CA. is the same though.
HTH, some
