I dont think its so much the "type" of racing as opposed to the type of treatment you give that tranny during your racing.
I think if you looked up (or if there actually were any) stats on this though, you might find more tranny damage occurs on the 1420 though. Too much power shifting maybe?

yeah, I'll bet drag racing is probably the worst. That's why a lot of road racing schools, or road racers tell you to focus on making a good clean shift, not necessarily a fast one.
Drag most definately, launching takes out our higher boost turbo cars trannies right and left... Once you get axles that will hold 500whp+ other stuff starts going (main/countershafts, final drives, etc)... In the real world tho, even with a more stock motor I'm sure drag still creates more stress... Afterall how often do you even break an axle roadracing... That's all force that's gone through the tranny... Just my $0.02
