Default Prelude Performance, & General Observation

A former friend of mine has a '98, V6, A4 Camaro w/ Ram Air and Exhaust. He used to say that with just the exhaust he was killing Prelude's w/ manual tranny, I/E. I was never w/ him when he raced against these cars in particular, so I was wondering what an actual Prelude owners opinion was of this.

Also, the impression that I get in Kills (I'm new as a member but have frequented that forum for the past two years), is that Preludes are slow even though they have the highest power engine under the "Honda" nameplate. This is coming from members w/ old crx's (no swap) up to the Type R/RSX-S crowd. Is the Prelude that much heavier than the other Honda's? Does it have bad gearing etc?someone explain it to me.

bolt-on for bolt on, a prelude (at least a 4th gen) is bus-lengths ahead of just about anything B or D series powered... there is a lot of BS in the kills forum.

my lude = fat pig.

but i've never drag raced or street light raced anyone in it because i'd rather abuse it in different ways.

i just got snowballed this past saturday at an auto-x though. i was faster than a whole bunch of civics though...and slower than a whole bunch too.

People say the prelude is heavy and what not, but I disagree. My car(4g vtec) ran 15 flat with I/E and I have yet to see any lighter chassy honda run better (Mostly referring to the integra, rsx, civic si any year, or even HB's with B series swaps). Most people speak from what they have heard other people say or what they "THINK" sounds right instead of from experience

at 2900+ lbs it IS heavy. no ifs ands or buts.

if it had an LS6, 300 series tires, and a really wide wheelbase, then it wouldn't be so bad, but with a 190 bhp h22, and 205's it simply doesn't have hp weight or grip to weight ratio to make it a winning race car, without spending assloads of money.

yes thats the point exactly, preludes were not designed with the race car in mind. Really the type-r and the s2000 were the only ones designed for just that.

THink of it this way spend too much for an s2000, or have to be worried 24/7 that ur type-r is going to be jacked.

btw i moped my friends rs camero... they are slow

Preludes are the pimpist of the pimpist honda, period. They are ******* boats, don't get me wrong, but I didn't buy mine for the sole purpose to smoke other cars. I bought it because I loved the look and I didn't want something that everybody and their mom had. In my opinion, the prelude, both 4th and 5th generation, are sexy mother ******* cars. Plus, w/ some bolt ons and some weight reduction, it is a pretty fast car. Bottom line....

PRELUDES ROCK

v6 camaros??????no no no, I think that's mistaken. And my prelude constantly beats up many of the other hondas, the only one that's kept up on the freeway was my friend in his gsr, and it's a badass gsr.

Prelude is a tank indeed. But I can take on V6 Camero and V6 Mustang. The Prelude is not made to run light to light. I guess if I wanted that I would of got a Civic or Integ. You might be faster on the quarter but we'll see in the canyons.
