I have heard a lot of rumors that it will not. Might be why the deal on them is so good.

Chris, have you heard any reasons why they won't be legal for STS? I was thinking about getting a set too until I heard this...

Nothing concrete. I am far from a source of information for the SCCA, but I heard a lot of people whining at/after Nationals about them making all other tires uncompetitive in STS. Was reading about it on sccaforums.com, Jean Kinser-Dana apparently came out with an edict to get rid of them....
Not that she is a decision maker. I am not sure when they have to announce it by, but will keep my eye on upcoming fast tracks. I would buy them, if I were running that class, and petition the hell out of the SCCA to keep them. They are wayyy affordable, and a good tire.

Yeah, but they didn't win STS, so what's everybody whining about?

There is no movement to ban these from sts. As they should not be banned. People need to stop this BS rumor.

EXACTLY! Same reason the Subarus won't get booted from STS either.

cool hopefully I can have them on by the next event. How do I need to prepare the tires for the first auto x? Also they wont be used very much on the street so just keep them cleen and dry between events? The winters arent to bad down here might get down below freezing at night but probably not, so the garage should be ok?

Try and put some street miles on the tires before you race them just to get some heat cycling in them. With the large tread blocks there should be no concern for them chunking. Having run them alot, I can tell you if you run in an area that is hot or if you do concecutive runs back to back, you will want to buy a water sprayer. They do tend to over heat and get a bit greasy under these conditions. just spray them down between runs and you will be fine.

Good luck.

I'm not an authority on the Falkens in particular... but I think it would be fair to say it would be beneficial to drive them a bit on the street to wear any mold-release compounds off the tread surface and get a few heat cycles in them. If anyone thinks otherwise, please post!

sorry for the O.T. post...

hmmm, Jon, so you are disapointed in those Kumhos? What were your expectations? Most people who commented about them had said they weren't the absolute stickiest, but that they were quite good for the money - which I interpreted to be better than say the P700Z that sells for a comparable price.

Just curious, as I have not had mine mounted yet, and the last time I talked to you about it, you just had them mounted

What is a good starting point for pressure in the azenis the tires will be 195-60-14. the old 14's I had only liked 33-36 pounds in them and the 16's I run 37 f 39 r
