where is engine vin ?

where is engine vin ?
Hey guys.
I just came back from checking out a USDM rsx type s k20 A2 engine for my engine swap project. I just want to make sure the engine and tranny are legit. Please tell me where the numbers are.
I saw the k20a2 stamp with the number under it, and i also saw a what seemed to be a laser etched number on the block, towards the firewall : BY3... I know its not the actual VIN # but does that number correlate with the VIN.

The vin# is on the back of the engine block, right above the oil pan. to the lower left of the oil filter.
It is rivited onto the engine block...
The transmission # is on the front of the engine and the engine # is next to the starter...The vin# can get you the vin status and the vin status tells me wich engine# and transmission# were in the vehicle at delivery.
